Join THE Team

Practices and programs can run up to three times a week. Clinics and team activities are held year-round. We compete in several local, regional, national, and international competitions each year. Learn more about each program below.
Our athletes are split into two groups: wheelchair and ambulatory (standing).
The program for both groups is the same, but we tailor our pacing and coaching to meet the specific needs of each group. Adaptive track athletes focus on mobility, strength, technique, and endurance.
Each athlete will follow a periodized training plan created by Jimmy Cuevas, which includes several training cycles and varying loads. As a result, many athletes coached by the Navigators have successfully reached the Paralympic Competition returning with multiple medals.

Let’s dive in! Swimmers are classified by the physical limitations of their disabilities, showcasing incredible resilience. You may often see amputee swimmers competing with swimmers who have cerebral palsy in the same heats, which shows the sport's inclusive nature.
The Navigators celebrate a remarkable tradition of winning, thanks to the dedication of Coach Norm Swenson, with over a decade of triumphs in regional and national competitions. Coach Norm has also shaped many elite-level swimmers, proving that determination knows no bounds.

Stay tuned for details!

The Navigators participate annually in various adaptive triathlons. By combining track and swimming training, we focus on getting athletes onto handcycles or bicycles. Several athletes have gone on to participate in Team USA triathlon trials.
